Why we built this.
It's a damn shame what's happening to specialty crop farming in this country. We've watched steel, autos, chips, and pharmaceuticals get shipped overseas, and produce is going the same way. More than half the fresh fruit Americans eat is now imported.
The growers still standing are getting squeezed from both directions: cheaper imports arriving right in the middle of their harvest window, and costs that won't stop climbing. Labor alone is close to 40% of what it costs to farm.
We can't change trade policy or move the market. What we can do is get you better prices from suppliers, and make sure you always know exactly where you stand — an extra set of eyes on your finances. Think of Thombar as your office, and Thomas as the CFO that's always there, day and night, covering your back while you're in the field making agronomic and operational decisions.

Named after Thomas Barbour Lathrop.
Thomas Barbour Lathrop was the financier who reshaped US agriculture by funding the introduction of thousands of new specialty crop varieties. Thombar carries his spirit forward, using modern finance to unlock resilience and innovation for American specialty growers today.
The name isn't invented. Thomas Barbour — Thombar. And the CFO in your office carries his first name: Thomas.
